With the recent launch of the UK Route 66 Association, Promote
Kingman now has a network of promotional partners in Japan, Australia, Brazil, and seven European countries. This is in addition to the network of local partners that includes the Route 66 Association of Kingman, the Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce, Grand Canyon Caverns, the organizers of Chillin’ on Beale, and dozens of local businesses. That is but one manifestation of the initiatives motto – building a community of the future, one partnership at a time.
Innovative programs to foster development of a sense of community and community purpose are another manifestation. Among these are free movie nights to enhance Chillin’ on Beale, a Beale Street concert series, a monthly open house to showcase a partners business, interactive programs developed in partnership with author Jim Hinckley including a Facebook live community calendar program and Friday morning interview program co-hosted with artist Gregg Arnold, illustrated historic district walking tours utilizing photos provided by the Mohave Museum of History & Arts, and in partnership with the Route 66 Association of Kingman, the hosting of receptions for visitors such as Toshi Goto, president of the Japanese Route 66 Association.
A Kingman area promotional video series is being developed. This as well as a social media marketing campaign and website often generate a reach in excess of 100,000 people per month. A possible partnership with the Historic Electric Vehicle Foundation to develop a fund raising initiative needed to create a dedicated electric vehicle museum is in the discussion stage. Organizing special events for tour and media groups are other services that are being developed.
Now, as the Promote Kingman initiative shifts into high gear by building on these partnerships, developing current programs, and implementing innovative projects, it’s time to review and grade Promote Kingman. Has the initiative provided a service to its partners and the community? Has it developed innovative projects to market and promote Kingman internationally? Has it, as the motto states, been building a community of the future one partnership at a time? Is it serving as a 21st century chamber of commerce? If the answer is yes, perhaps its time you become a Promote Kingman partner, or a sponsor of the various community building projects.
