Spring is here and it is going to be a season of neon nights,
good times, and a growing network of partners fostering development of a sense of community as well as community purpose. Chillin’ on Beale, that delightful monthly event that transforms the historic district into a recreation of a 1950’s era cruise, is but one example. In partnership with event organizers, and the owner of Beale Celebrations, Promote Kingman will assist in transforming the event into a destination, first through arrangement with management at Grand Canyon Caverns for a special lunch/tour package on the Saturday of Chillin’ on Beale and by arranging for a host hotel (Quality Inn). Next, a project that adds a new dimension to an already fun filled evening – a free movie night at Beale Celebrations.
The Beale Street Rocks concert series kicked off this past Friday night evening. This series will add additional vibrancy to the historic business district, and ensure that it becomes a neon lit destination. Likewise with the monthly Promote Kingman Open House that is growing in popularity, especially when linked with the Route 66 Association of Kingman “meet & greet” as a special event.
The concert series is but one manifestation of a growing arts and cultural movement in the community. In March two of the Friday morning Jim Hinckley’s America Facebook live programs, developed in partnership with Promote Kingman focused on the opening and development of the Kingman Center for the Arts as well as the Art Hub. The programs garnered the largest audience to date, another indication of the growing interest in seeing the historic district transformed into a vibrant cultural center.
The first video in the Jim Hinckley’s America: A Trek Along Route 66 series is complete, almost. The video debuted in March at an event held in partnership with the Route 66 Association of Kingman, but an opportunity to add a brief interview with Bob Boze Bell necessitated a last minute edit. With the acquisition of initial sponsors, Kingman Area Tourism, Grand Canyon West Resort, Ramada Kingman, and the Route 66 Association of Kingman, work is staring on the second video. Both videos will be made available to Kingman tourism to assist in their area marketing initiatives.
It is going to be a very, very exciting spring. Even better, summer will be the most exciting season yet this year!
